Friday 11/28/08 Cask Conditioned Harvest Ale!
Hey beer fans, after your fill of turkey on Thanksgiving, swing by the tasting room on Friday, Nov. 28th and try a glass of our Cask Conditioned Harvest Ale. Our harvest ale was brewed with fresh, local, 'wet' hops, contributing a distinct hop aroma and flavor. In addition, we added a generous dry hopping of 'wet' hops into the cask during secondary fermentation to further pronounce a very "west coast" hop flavor to the finished beer. There are only 7 gallons of this unique ale so make sure to stop in early, as our last few casks have been selling out by the end of Friday night. Hope to see you then. Cheers -IBC

Now on Tap: Avocado Honey Ale & London Porter
Just a heads up for anyone not at the tasting room lately, we are now pouring Avocado Honey Ale (again), as well as the first winter seasonal, London Porter. Avocado Honey Ale is a copper colored ale, flavored with locally sourced raw honey from an avocado orchard. In addition, it is lightly hopped to allow the smooth honey flavors to stand out in the finish. London Porter, is a robust-style porter, with a rich, roasty, flavor. Currently, the porter is being served on the nitrogen tap to give a thick, smooth head to one of our favorite seasonal ales. Hope to see you soon, Cheers!

Hey guys, this Friday, October 3, we will be releasing our latest cask-conditioned ale. Cask-conditioned, oak aged Jubilee is a rich and robust 'real ale,' with lingering hints of toffee and vanilla imparted by over six weeks of aging on French oak chips. Come in and sample a glass at our tasting room Friday, as it is sure to be a quick seller and crowd pleaser! In addition to tapping our cask, Friday is also the first official day of the Avocado Festival, which takes place along Linden Ave. here in Carpinteria. The festival lasts all weekend long and is a great time to celebrate the release of our Avocado Honey Ale in 220z Limited release bottles. It will be super busy, so we do ask to keep your dogs at home this weekend as you celebrate here at the tasting room. Hope to see you here!

Now On Tap - Avocado Honey Ale
The wait is over! Here at the taproom we have just tapped our first keg of our annual Avocado Honey Ale! Our Avocado Honey Ale is a copper colored, easy drinking ale, flavored with a late boil addition of 50 pounds of honey from LOCAL Carpinteria Avocado Orchards. In addition, it is lightly hopped, allowing for a smooth honey aroma in the finish. We have brewed two batches this year in preparation of the Carpinteria Avocado Festival (Oct. 3-5), however, this beer is one of our more popular brews so it will go fast. Look for limited-release screen printed bottles in the following weeks, and make sure to grab your own as we will be filling only 120 cases of this seasonal ale. Swing by the tasting room and sample a glass today, we'll see you there! Cheers. -IBC

Coming soon - Avocado Honey Ale
In preparation for this years Carpinteria Avocado Festival (October 3rd, 4th, and 5th) we will once again be releasing our fall seasonal beer the Avocado Honey Ale! Avocado in beer you wonder? Not really, this unique brew is similar to our blonde ale - light and refreshing, however it is brewed with its own unique grain bill, as well as a late boil addition of 50 pounds of locally sourced honey from an avocado orchard! Look for it to appear on tap around the end of September, and bottles to follow as we get to them. Till then, cheers! -IBC

Coming Friday 8/29 -- Cask I.P.A. & Unfiltered Harvest Ale
Looking for a way to beat the heat this Labor Day weekend? Why not try cruzing down to the tasting room and sampling some hop-infused deliciousness! This Friday, 8/29, we will be pouring the first keg of our unfiltered Harvest Ale as well as a cask-conditioned IPA. This is the first year we have produced a Harvest Ale, where liberal doses of freshly picked, local (Carpinteria and Gaviota coast) grown hops are added to the end of the boil. This addition of fresh hops adds a very floral, wet hop taste not found in many commercial or microbrewed beers. Furthermore, our cask conditioned IPA will be served Friday as well. If you are a newcomer to the cask-movement, cask ale is served at room temperature, unfiltered, and dry-hopped with traditional English finishing hops, East Kent Goldings--delicious!. It is sure to be a busy weekend, so sneak in early and try some for yourself, Cheers!

Hey Beer Fans, Harvest Ale & Cask Porter on FRIDAY 8-15-08!
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know what is going on at the brewery this week. In celebration of brewing our 300th batch, we will be brewing a special, one-run beer, available only at the brewery, called Harvest Ale. Our Harvest Ale is unique from our other beers due to the fact that it will contain massive amounts of whole, locally-grown, fresh hops, added to the end of the boil for flavor and aroma. In addition, in honor of the ceremonious brew, we will be tapping a keg of our cask-conditioned London Porter! The porter has been a winter staple here at the brewery, and we managed to hold on to one cask of it back in the cellar, just waiting for a special occasion to tap it. So come on in and try a glass of cask porter and cheers to our 300th batch!

Cask IPA coming Friday July 25!!!
Real Ale fans rejoice, we are bringing out a cask of I.P.A. this Friday, July 25th! Weighing in at a respectable 6.8% ABV, cask conditioned IPA is truly unique. In addition to being served at cellar temperature, our real ale is unfiltered and allowed to carbonate naturally inside the serving vessel, leading to a much smoother taste, without the bite experienced that high levels of carbonation in most beers. In addition, we dry hop with traditional East Kent Golding hops, creating a very floral bouquet which continues to open up as the beer warms. Our last cask ale sold out in the first night, so make sure to get in Friday if you have your heart set on a glass or two! Hope to see you then. Cheers!

Help Save the Tree
Greetings Beer Enthusiasts:
May this find your summer in full swing. Here at Island Brewing Company, we’re writing with equal parts concerns and hope about a situation which we’ve just learned of. There are plans at the Carpinteria State Beach to cut down the eucalyptus tree that graces our ocean front view within the next week. We’re trying to rally support to save the tree. The tree has been a fixture of our view, we’ve grown attached to it, and if you’ve had a pint or two at our brewery and gazed out over the ocean, there’s a good chance you too likely feel it may be worth saving. So we’re asking for you to write Tyson Butzke, Head Ranger or Rich Rozelle, Channel Coast District Superintendent and ask them to trim a few limbs and try to rehabilitate it rather than cut it down. Thanks for your time and hopefully we can keep the tree standing.

New Face at the Tasting Room!
In preparation for this summer we have added a new employee, Alma, to our line up here at the brewery. Although she may be small, she has the largest smile of anyone in town and her cheery and bright personality should fit right in here. Many local Carpinterians may already know her from around town, as she also works at both Jack's Bagels and Curves for Women. Her first day will be Thursday, April 3, so come in and wish her a warm welcome! See you then. Cheers.

Island Brewing Company Wins Silver Medal at Great American Beer FestivalOctober 11, 2004
Island Brewing Company earned the Silver Medal October 2nd at the 2004 Great American Beer Festival (GABF), the largest competition in the United States recognizing the outstanding beers produced in the last year. The competition, held in Denver, CO, represents the highest level of acclaim a beer can reach and the national award comes on top of awards given to the brewery at both the California State Fair and the LA County Fair in July and August.
Island Brewing Company was recognized at the GABF in the English Brown Ale category for its Nut Brown Ale, a mahogany colored, gently hopped, malty tasting ale. Island Brewing Company is a 15-barrel brewery along the Santa Barbara coast that specializes in fresh, flavorful, and locally brewed beers. “This is our second time winning a medal at the Great American Beer Festival,” notes brewer and owner Paul Wright. “Two years ago, we won a Silver for the Jubilee Ale. Winning a Silver Medal for the Nut Brown Ale at the Great American Beer Festival is an honor that shows the strength and balance of our six varieties and makes all the hard work we put into brewing worth it.”
An international panel of brewing experts and judges fielded more than 2,000 entries submitted by 380 breweries from across the country. “The Great American Beer Festival is the premier judging event for the American craft beer industry,” says festival director Nancy Johnson. “Being chosen a winner is a true accomplishment.”
