You say Monday, we say weekend plus one, or weekend minus four. Friday Jan 16, we'll be releasing a special beer for us, one that a groundswell of local Carpinterians tapped us to brew as a commemorative beer marking the 50th anniversary of the city.
Incorporated as a city in 1965, Carpinteria has become synonymous with stunning sunsets, spectacular scenery, smiles and swells through its history. “50 years, or the Jubilee as it is known, is a momentous occasion worth marking,” noted owner/founder Paul Wright, “Since our inception in 2001, we’ve always had the Jubilee as one of our year-round beers, but after some discussion we decided that this anniversary is one that needed its own beer crafted for the occasion, and so the ‘Golden Jubilee’ was born.”
The first batch of the Golden Jubilee was brewed on the brewery’s new pilot system, which should further enable a steady stream of experimental brews in the Island Brewing Company lineup. “Pretty much everyone had a hand brewing this one: Rob Headlee, our Sales Rep, Dan Clayton, our cellarman, and our assistant brewers Greg Cason and Will Gomes with oversight from Paul,” said Head Brewer Ryan Morrill. “The end result is an experiment that worked. We’ve got a beer with a malty body, full mouth feel, and a sessionable alcohol percentage. We scaled up and brewed a full batch in late December.”
The Golden Jubilee is an English mild ale brewed with Sterling hops with a 4.6 % finished abv.
Carpinteria’s 50th anniversary will be celebrated at events throughout the year including the Carpinteria Awards Ceremony, an extra day at Avocado Festival, and several other key events for the city.
